Economics must not be relegated to the classroom and statistical offices and must not be left to esoteric circles. It is the philosophy of human life and action and concerns everybody and everything. It is the pith of civilization and of man’s human existence. –Ludwig von Mises.

The knowledge and awareness that allows us to notice when we are being robbed or when our liberties are being subverted have been hidden behind a public education system that has–not surprisingly–failed, like everything else the government does. Sadly, this does not absolve us of responsibility for our well-being. Here are three recent situations which demonstrate areas in which we can do better to learn and teach others to recognize the government's deliberate actions that do not benefit the American people. Perhaps better awareness of these issues would have caused an adequate response from Americans.

  1. Trying to Mask Recession”: while the terminology used by government-sanctioned economists is in itself meaningless, what recession is meant to define is no laughing matter. A decline in economic productivity is a metric worth noting regardless of what we call it. Likewise, a slowdown of production has the same effects, whether we call it a recession or not.
  2. Alongside this pathetic attempt to convince Americans that we are not in a recession, the government and the media use the term inflation as if it denoted a natural phenomenon we must deal with, much like a natural disaster. They discuss inflation as the rise in prices, which should be considered a consequence of inflation and not inflation itself. However, if inflation were correctly understood as the increase of the currency supply by government officials via policy, the response would no longer be “what is the government doing about inflation” but instead be “why is the government inflating the currency for which I work?”

The President of the United States is banking on the fact that today many Americans are graduating from college without ever having read the declaration of independence (or could it be possible that he and other politicians are not aware themselves of the stupidity of their claims?). And for that reason, he can say such stupidities as

You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-American.

Concerning point number two, it is common knowledge that when governments need money, they must obtain it by taxing citizens. This is evident in that most working citizens are aware that they must pay taxes. We are generally told that these taxes pay for all the benefits one can enjoy outside the home—hospitals, fire stations, police departments, etc. There are two issues to acknowledge; First, when the government spends the taxes, they simply redistribute the worker's wages into the economy. As Mises does, we can always suppose, again, only suppose, because this is not true, that government will always spend others’ money on worthwhile endeavors. Thus, we can count that as a non-issue and focus on the matter at hand. The second issue is the erroneous use of the term inflation.

In other words, they spend without taxing citizens directly. The rise in prices, which we are conditioned to see as “transitory,” in reality, is only the effect of how the government obtained the currency to satisfy its so-called benevolent agenda.

When the newly printed currency makes its way to the market, the excess currency buys from the same pool of a given supply in the market. The extra demand was not accounted for in the production of the available supply and causes the prices to rise, given that production cannot simply ramp up at the same rate that the currency reaches the market. The politicians spending the currency do not intend to cause a rise in prices because we suppose they are benevolent state administrators. But their intentions mean nothing to the mechanics of a market economy. The real issue may be that these politicians believe themselves far more competent than they are in economic matters. They subscribe to the economic theories that justify and promote their spending because it suits them (and us, apparently) best. Even in Biden’s statement, given Jul 28, 2022 he speaks of inflation as something to be addressed and not as a tool used by the government.

Coming off of last year’s historic economic growth – and regaining all the private sector jobs lost during the pandemic crisis – it’s no surprise that the economy is slowing down as the Federal Reserve acts to bring down inflation.

If we drop the act and recognize that the currency being printed today is not used for the benefit of citizens, we add another degree of justification for our anger. But only if we know; only if we are taught and teach others about The Biggest Scam In The History Of Mankind. We must also keep in mind that, on this point, both Democrats and Republican politicians share the blame.

In response to point three, we can only quote our founding documents and hope that those with the knowledge are also willing to teach others about the vile nature of those who have come to power in the United States.

And so it would seem, Mr. President, Americans can support insurrection, when the need to do so arises.
